In the 80's I was inspired by the excitement, variety and humour presented by the Memphis design collaborative in Italy founded by Ettore Sottsass.
The mandate of 'expressive free-form' was a refreshing alternative to the more sterile design coming out of northern Europe at the time. Colours, shape and whimsy all came together to challenge assumptions, and to bring back something that had been slowly eroding—fun!
This counter unit was commisioned by a local coffee bar and all are thrilled with the outcome. The piece itself is constructed with reclaimed lumber, tints, paints and fittings, demonstrating real value in recycling materials and diversion from landfills.
Always on the lookout to work with talented people and great ideas.
